Cinema in the Square

In August, the charming Piazza dell’Oratorio, in the heart of Vallebona, once again turns into a magical open-air cinema. Four weekly screenings welcome residents, visitors and families, offering the perfect opportunity to come together and enjoy great films under the stars on cool summer evenings.

This year’s programme brings together animation, adventure and moving stories that will entertain and inspire audiences of all ages.

Screenings will take place every Wednesday in August at 9:00 pm.

The film series is organised in collaboration with Associazione Controtempo.

Screening Programme

• Wednesday 5 August | Rango A chameleon used to a comfortable domestic life suddenly finds himself in the middle of the desert and arrives in the quirky town of Dirt, where he is unexpectedly welcomed as a hero. Through daring adventures and with a good dose of courage, the likeable protagonist must discover who he truly wants to be. An ironic and adventurous animated masterpiece.

• Wednesday 12 August | Up Carl Fredricksen, an elderly and determined balloon salesman, decides to fulfil a lifelong dream: flying his house to the breathtaking landscapes of South America with the help of thousands of colourful balloons. His journey takes a completely unexpected turn when he discovers a surprise passenger on board: Russell, a young and tireless Wilderness Explorer. A poetic story about friendship across generations.

• Wednesday 19 August | Ratatouille Remy is a small rat with an extraordinary talent for cooking and a seemingly impossible dream: to become a great chef in Paris. His encounter with the young and clumsy kitchen worker Linguini leads to an extraordinary adventure filled with fine cuisine, friendship and determination, proving that talent can emerge from the most unexpected places.

• Wednesday 26 August | Un mondo a parte Michele, a primary school teacher tired of the hectic pace of city life, leaves Rome to work at a tiny school in the heart of the Abruzzo National Park. Faced with the risk of the school closing due to a lack of pupils, he joins forces with the determined deputy headteacher Agnese and the entire local community to protect an institution that plays a vital role in village life. A moving and engaging Italian comedy for the whole family.
